"There was once a man who became unstuck in the world – he realized that he was not his car, he realized that he was not his job, he was not his phone, his desk or his shoes. Like a boat cut from its anchor, he’d begin to drift."- Castles In The Sky

Brianna Meli

Brianna comes in a small body full of punch and zest. Her fun creative spirit shimmers through her work and personality. She likes to draw, paint, sew, design, screen print, sing and preform. Her band plays mostly in Los Angeles but she lives in Long Beach. Her grandparents are a mixture of Sicilian, Portuguese and Mexican. Brianna likes to ride her bike and doesn’t like when people throw their trash in the street, especially if its a Starbucks cup. Her best friend’s name is Byron, They were punk kids in high school. Recently she returned to university and want's to stay there forever, because they have fun tools and supplies to create new and interesting works.

The 3 objects... 1. A picture of my auntie Marsha. This picture is really special to me because I think about my aunt very often; she was like a second mother to me and helped raise me when my mom was working. This is her glamor shot and the only portrait I have of her. As a physical object it means a lot to hold it and have a physical trace and representation of her, just because mentally she is so unbreakable.  2. A hardcover book of The Little Prince. While working at a public library, I come across a lot of random books that are donated and eventually sent to used books organizations. Sometimes in that process I uncover books that are my persynal type of gems. This book is definitely one of those for me. The cover of it is my favorite cover, it's the ideal size, and it's a long time favorite tale of mine. To me, this book represents the possibility of escape and discovery, and it's also another reminder of how that is an endless experience, and one that I crave.  3. Possibly the best birthday card/gift/gesture I have ever known? One of my greatest friends Vi made this book for me as part of my 23rd birthday present when we were housing together at the time. Honestly, nothing makes it smile the way it can. There is just such a thoughtfulness and clever energy inside of it that really lifts me up when I am in any kind of adversity. That is such a genuine aspect of Vi herself, and also how I feel whenever we get to hang out, which isn't very often. It's like having a friend list 23 reasons why you are so great and why you deserve to take up space and exist in the most grand and subtle ways, because that's exactly what the book is. Being affirmed of that is so special and humbling, and it's something that I don't allow much for myself, so that book is really important. Thank you Vi!!! :)  Also, I spell forms of woman, person, and history with the letter Y in case you were wondering about my spelling of persynal in the description. <3

Brianna made this apron. The quotes were taking from an editorial printed in the 50's on how to be a good wife.  1. Have dinner ready. 2. Touch up your makeup. 3. Listen to him 4. Remember he is the master. 5. Put a ribbon in your hair.
